Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

I wrote to WCC on 9 September 2010 to request the removal of a street light from outside my house, but still have not received a response. The street light located outside 200 Oriental Parade was installed a few years ago as part of an attempt to deter so-called boy racers and other late-night partying. Since the liquor ban went into effect, we have experienced far fewer problems of this kind. The street lamp does not work and I have never seen it switched on and functioning. There is no need to light that part of the street so we would like it removed.

Not sure your preferences constitute something that is broken? Maybe other people would rather the light was fixed and worked.
