Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

Yellow traffic light not functional, foliage obscuring traffic lights

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 02:42, Thu 13 December 2012

The Mt Albert Rd westbound kerbside straight-ahead yellow light at the SW corner of Dominion and Mt Albert Rd is non-functional. With the corresponding signal face at the SE corner fully obscured by foliage (which should be trimmed), and a simultaneous left-turn green arrow beside the non-functioning yellow light, it is easy for drivers in the left-most lane to miss the yellow light until it is too late to brake safely. Please fix the yellow light and trim the tree.

Received an email response from Auckland Council today at 9:35 am, referring the matter on to Auckland Transport as it relates to traffic lights. Auckland Transport sent an acknowledgement email at 3:00 pm, noting that there may be delays to their response over the holiday period. Perhaps FixMyStreet could directly refer such traffic-related issues to AT directly, instead of through Auckland Council?
Received an email from Auckland Transport today at 2:25 pm, saying that the matter of trees blocking traffic lights is managed by Auckland Council, and so they have referred this matter (back) to them. I replied to AT, asking if the broken yellow light will be fixed, adding that I noticed the left-turn yellow light also being non-functional.
FixMyStreet should have routed this to Auckland Transport in the first place, based on the category of Traffic lights. I'm looking into it...
Oops, neglected to update this issue over holidays. Received an email from AT on 24 Dec, saying they have referred the issue to the relevant department and it's in their repair queue. Received an email from AC on 7 Jan saying a service request has been logged to investigate and respond within 7 working days. Noticed on 9 Jan that the straight-ahead yellow light has been fixed, but not sure if left-turn yellow arrow is fixed, and the tree is still blocking the south-east signal face. Will mark as fixed once those two are resolved.
