Hi, this morning at 6:32am I had yet another near miss at the corner of Fitzgerald Rd and Waihoehoe Rd in Drury.
The traffic coming on to Waihoehoe Rd from Fitzgerald Rd has a "Give Way" sign however it is often ignored and coming from Waihoehoe Rd (towards Drury) I regularly have to swerve to avoid colliding with the vehicle.
This morning a truck drove into my lane just how I was coming up and managed to stop halfway into my lane. I slammed my brakes and swerved around him but this time, there was a car coming towards me (from Drury roundabout direction) and was turning right into Fitzgerald Rd. They swerved away from me too, thankfully so we managed to avoid coalition. I also had my 1.5 year old daughter in the backseat and if I had come only 2 seconds later, the truck would have hit the side of my car where my daughter sits.
This is not the first time this happened, it happens on regular basis, often weekly.
I would therefore ask if you could please investigate the corner, and to make it more safe. (potentially putting in a stop sign instead of give way?) I will leave it up to you to decide what would be the best solution.
If this issue needs to be reported to another body, please kindly let me know.
Many thanks,
Diana Young
