Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

On Thursday 26th November 5.20am my Nana was hit by a speeding driver on Mill Road. She was killed instantly. This devastation has forced me to do whatever i can to prevent this from happening again. She was fit and healthy and walked every single morning at 5am to get her morning coffee from our family run coffee cart on Mill Road. She was smiling and waving happily arriving excited for her special Gingernut Latte. Then in a split second struck by a car who left no brake marks and whos car looked like it had just hit a cow. Now usually Mill road is at a 70k speed limit. But I am a local who uses Mill road multiple time a day and i know for a fact that for the last few months the speed limit sign in and out of Mill road has had a 'temporary' 50k speed limit signage. I also now notice even more now than ever that its the majority of drivers speeding on that road not even acknowledging the speed limit change even if it is temporary. I would like to request that Mill Road stay at 50k speed limit and also (even if i have to pay for it) put up SLOW DOWN signs (2) one coming into Helensville of Mill Road opposite the Gull and also Going out of Helensville Around the Mitre 10 on Mill Road. My Nana had many many more years to live she was vibrant and happy and the entire community is shaken that this could happen to anyone as so many locals walk every morning and would see her walking and have said the same, it could of been them.
