Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

Grass Berm

In the autumn of 2015 and in front of 71 & 73 of Grace Crescent the council chopped down 2 large trees. It was only a month ago that they ground down the stumps after numerous reminders. Everyone else in the street has a lovely flat area of grass in front of their houses except these two. No one has come back and leveled the ground off or replanted it with grass. Unfortunately this area spoils the look along the rest of the street. Driving around Taupo no other street berm has been left like this and for so long.

Thumbs down to the Taupo District Council for the attempted leveling off (end of June)of the grass berm area in front of 71 and 73 Grace Crescent. Council took away several spadefuls of oak chip, where the trees were cut down from, and then planted grass seed on oak sawdust...hoping it would grow? The rest of the berm area was NOT leveled off and there is still two big mounds plus fine trees roots on top of the ground. How does one mow this area! Across the road from this they have a lovely berm area and so does the rest of the street. We eagerly await further improvement of the area concerned.
