Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

At the end of Tongariro road, there is an alleyway that doesn't have any barriers to stop motorbikes. Over the last few months this alleyway has been used to allow access from the highway to the river tracks. The motorbikes speed from the alleyway right to the end of the street and there are a lot of kids playing around these areas. I'd hate to see someone hurt or killed from this behaviour.

Request 1802130 updated at TaupoDC. Investigating option of installing barriers
Is there a recent update? Last one was 7th of Feb. Thanks
Request 1802130 updated at TaupoDC. Have arranged with Contractor to erect barrier. Space has to be left to cater for mobility scooters so motorcycles may still be able to squeeze through, but hopefully will be deterred

Over one year later and there are still dirt bikes speeding down this road from the highway. Does the Council take community safety seriously?
