Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

Permenantly cloggged open drain

The drain in front of the letterboxes is always blocked and when it rains, water immediately flows over the driveway and down the hill across the road, creating aslipping hazard for cars and pedestrians alike (who also must use the road due to the lack of a footpath). The many trees in the area (some on council land) means that unblocking the drain is only a temporary soloution. In addition several cars have gotten wheels stuck in the drain while exiting the driveway due to its depth. Covering the drain would not only stop water flowing across the road and the area used as a footpath, but also improve the safety of the area(the drain is large enough for a child to fall down, this has happened once to my knowledge) All the residents are tired of this unsightly, unsafe and defunct drain which has been in this state for several years We hope that someone has the time to come and look at it to solve this isssue. Thank you for your consideration. (Photo attached)
