Taking a break...

FixMyStreet is going offline shortly, probably permanently. The software is old and needs a complete rewrite, the site is being bombarded by spammers, and it is debatable whether councils are receiving and/or acting on FixMyStreet reports.

As of now, it is not possible to post new issues, or updates to published issues.

If you have submitted on FixMyStreet, thank you for playing a part in one of Aotearoa/New Zealand's early civic tech projects.

Cars using road as a thoroughfare in mornings are speeding

A very large volume of cars use our road at a thoroughfare in the mornings 6.30am - 8am to try and take a shortcut from Te Atatu Road. They cut down Wakeling Ave, then link back on Te Atatu Road by using Lyndhurst Road or Jaemont Ave. I guess you can't stop them doing this even though it causes a huge amont of congestion. However they all speed down Wakeling and it is quite dangerous in the mornings. This is a 50km built up area but all the cars fly down the hill at quite a speed.

Updates

I've witnessed this myself. It's a way of cue jumping at the round about by countdown also they go through to Jaemont ave to cue jump and others go to Royal view rd to cue jump which just clogs the main traffic route on Te Atatu Rd
